# Devices

Player Lite and Player Pro, the apps for TVs and sticks, and the web display in the browser: which way fits which device, connecting, networking, pairing, what the display shows, and how a device updates and heals itself.

> **Type:** area
> **For:** Everyone who stands in front of the device: when setting up, when pairing, and when the display shows something unexpected.

![What a device that is not yet assigned shows: the check-in indicator, the heading, the six-digit pairing code in two blocks of three, the three steps into the portal, and the footer with device and display identifiers](/docs/devices/bilder/b37d2dcc-overview.png)

*The first thing a new device shows, and the beginning of every setup.*

## The players

| Page | When you need it |
|---|---|
| [What is SzeneraOS, and why does it run on its own?](/docs/devices/about-szeneraos) | An operating system with only one job. It starts straight into the display software, keeps content on the device, updates itself with a way back, and accepts nothing from outside. |
| [Player Lite](/docs/devices/player-lite) | One display up to 4K, video up to Full HD, network cable or Wi-Fi: the device for one display per location, such as a shop window, waiting area, or reception. |
| [Player Pro](/docs/devices/player-pro) | Two displays on one device with separate content and their own schedule, video up to 4K at 60 frames per second, either as a wall side by side or in two rooms. |
| [Web display: a display in the browser](/docs/devices/web-display) | An existing computer, tablet, or smart TV opens the display address, without a purchase and with limits, plus the browser extension for screenshots. |
| [Platforms: which devices run Szenera](/docs/devices/platforms) | Three ways onto a display (player, host app, and web display): what the portal can do on which platform, which address a TV needs, and which settings go with it. |
| [Technical data, disposal, and licenses](/docs/devices/technical-data) | Player Lite and Player Pro row by row, the numbers behind SzeneraOS (check-in, certificate, offline stock, watchdogs), take-back, and licenses. |

## Setting up

| Page | When you need it |
|---|---|
| [Unpack and connect](/docs/devices/unpack-and-connect) | HDMI cable into HDMI 0, network cable or Wi-Fi, power supply into the outlet: The player starts by itself and shows the code after about a minute. |
| [Connect to the network: cable, Wi-Fi, company network, time](/docs/devices/connect-network) | A cable counts only with internet behind it, Wi-Fi through the setup card with a QR code, correcting the password, the company network, and why the time must be right. |
| [Set up Samsung TVs and Samsung panels (Tizen)](/docs/devices/set-up-samsung-tizen) | Three ways: the Tizen app Szenera Display on a retail TV, the browser or the URL Launcher of a panel as a web display, and later the partner tier for panels. With the limits of the app and the two settings without which it does not come back after a power outage. |
| [Set up LG TVs and LG panels (webOS)](/docs/devices/set-up-lg-webos) | Three ways: the webOS app Szenera Display on a retail TV, the browser or the Web Launcher of a panel as a web display, and later the partner tier for panels. With the limits of the app, including the screensaver and the manual start. |
| [Set up Fire TV, Signage Stick, and Android devices](/docs/devices/set-up-fire-android) | These devices come without a URL Launcher: Browser, autostart, and address are three steps instead of one, and the WebView’s version matters. Plus the Fire TV app and its limits. |
| [The pairing screen](/docs/devices/pairing-screen) | What a device that is not yet assigned shows: the code in two blocks of three, its change, the three steps, and the footer for support. |
| [What a display can show](/docs/devices/what-display-shows) | All states from “Loading the program” through pairing code, placeholder, off air, and maintenance band to “Connection closed”, each with the action needed. |

## In operation

| Page | When you need it |
|---|---|
| [How does a player update itself?](/docs/devices/about-player-updates) | Three components on one channel: display software and remote maintenance without a restart, SzeneraOS with one restart, every version only after the health gate and back by itself in case of failure. Plus the status page and how web displays and host apps get renewed. |
| [How does a player keep itself running?](/docs/devices/about-self-healing) | A check-in every 30 seconds, content from the offline stock without a network, a restart after crashes, a staged network watchdog, all without anyone going there. |
| [The device record: tabs and cards of the machine](/docs/devices/device-record) | The Devices area with the list and the seven tabs of the record: what the machine reports about itself, which displays are attached to it, and what it can do. |
| [Maintain a device remotely: restart, log, update](/docs/devices/maintain-device-remotely) | Commands that hit the machine and with it all displays on it: what each one does and how long the picture stays away. |
| [How does the player control the display over HDMI?](/docs/devices/about-hdmi-control) | On and off, reclaiming the source, and brightness over the HDMI cable: which line can do what, and why TVs and monitors differ. |
| [Device lifecycle](/docs/devices/device-lifecycle) | The four actions of the Lifecycle card: what each one erases, what appears on the display afterward, whether someone has to go there, and who lifts a block. |
| [The service menu on the device](/docs/devices/service-menu) | Ctrl+Alt+S or pressing OK five times opens the player’s situation on the display, and a mouse movement shows a button for it: network, cloud, content, the cause as a finding, and a report to your phone. |
| [Troubleshooting on the device](/docs/devices/troubleshooting) | Black display, the setup card comes back, code rejected, connection closed, offline in the portal, old content: what you can do on site. |
