# Register an organization

When you finish, your organization has its own portal, you are its first responsible person, and the contract is in its trial. You need nothing more than a business email address.

> **Type:** guide
> **For:** the first person at a business that does not exist on Szenera yet, such as a medical practice, restaurant, workshop, or club
> **Prerequisite:** a business email address you can access. No organization code, no invitation, no payment details
> **Where in the portal:** Sign-in page › **No account yet? Register an organization**

You only need this step if your organization does not exist on Szenera yet. If you were invited, or the operator has already created your organization, read [Sign in](/docs/getting-started/sign-in) instead.

## Steps

At the top, you see where you are, such as **Step 1 of 5 · Email address**. The five stations are **Email address**, **Confirmation code**, **Your access**, **Organization**, and **Summary**.

1. **Register an organization**: Under **Email**, enter the address of your organization, then click **Request code**. From the domain, Szenera can tell whether an organization already exists there (see [below](#two-special-paths)).
2. **Confirm your address**: The **Confirmation code** arrives by email. It has eight characters made up of digits and capital letters and is valid for 30 minutes. Type or paste it into the eight fields, then click **Confirm**. The button in the email opens this page with the code already filled in. **Send a new code** is disabled for one minute.
3. **Your access**: Enter a **Display name** and a **Password (min. 12 characters)**. The **Password strength** runs from “Too short — at least 12 characters.” to “Very good.”
4. **Your organization**: Enter the **Organization name**, **Street and number**, **Postal code**, **City**, if needed **State or region (optional)**, and **Country** (a two-letter code such as `DE`), plus **Language** and **Time zone**. You do not enter an organization code. It is derived from the name. The details appear later in the settings and on invoices.
5. **Everything correct?**: Review the summary and select **I agree to the terms of use and the privacy policy.** Then click **Create organization**. Without the checkmark, the button stays disabled.

## Options

### Two special paths

What happens next depends on the domain of your address, and only after the confirmation code.

**If it already belongs to an organization**, the wizard leads to **Request to join** (“An organization already exists for your email domain.”, step 3 of 3). If several organizations match, select one first. Enter a **Display name** and optionally a **Message (optional)**, then click **Request to join**. After that, the page shows **Your request is on its way**: The organization’s administrators decide on the join. If they accept, a normal invitation arrives by email. A rejection is not reported.

**If it uses company-account sign-in**, **Sign in with your company account** appears (“There is no registration path for this address.”) with the button **Sign in with your company account**. Your organization manages access through its provider: You sign in instead of registering.

If the operator does not offer self-registration, the page **Get to know Szenera** appears instead of the wizard. Existing access is not affected.

## Check the result

In one go, the organization, your account as **Owner**, and a contract in the 30-day trial are created: one display in the Pro package, free of charge, with no payment method. You are already signed in and see the **Dashboard** with the **Finish setup** card. Under **Billing**, the contract shows as **Trial**. Each additional display is charged from the moment you book it.

## If something goes wrong

| Symptom | Meaning | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No email with the code | The portal always confirms the send, even for a mistyped address, a disposable address, or a domain that accepts no mail. | Check the address and click **Send a new code**. Otherwise, use a different business address. |
| “This code is invalid, expired or already used.” | The 30 minutes are over, or a character is wrong. | Click **Send a new code**. The previous one expires. |
| “Your confirmation has expired. Please confirm your address again.” | Too much time passed between the code and the final step. | **Start again**. |
| After a reload, the wizard is back at **Your access** | Your password is deliberately not cached. | Enter the display name and password again. The rest is kept. |
| “Your email domain has since been bound to a company-account sign-in.” | Your organization has since set up company sign-in. | Get in through **Sign in with company account**, see [Sign in](/docs/getting-started/sign-in). |
| “An organization now exists for your email domain.” | Someone from your domain was faster. | Click **Start again**. The path leads to a join request. |
